Originating as a random post on an anonymous blog three years back, the first sketch of a character for ‘Base One’ originated as a high-school creative writing assignment, with a chapter that later turned into one of the centremost rivalries in the story.
However, being quite fast-paced, it took a while for me to build up the background and setting which could provide some context for a science-fiction adventure. For the first and second years of university, I continued to work on it: primarily on weekends, but nevertheless, quite sporadically.
Without giving away too much, the story was written from the middle, with pieces added on either side, and a wrap-up at the end… with plans for a sequel 😉
